Suicide bombers kill 28 people, injure 60 at Istanbul Ataturk airport

ISTANBUL — Three suicide bombers reportedly attacked Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday, killing and injuring dozens of people.

According to Reuters, Istanbul governor Vasip Sahin said authorities suspect three suicide bombers carried out the attacks.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Speaking to the country’s parliament, the Turkish Justice Minister, said that based on initial reports one of the terrorists began firing a Kalashnikov rifle before detonating an explosive vest, Reuters reported.

Videos circulating online show airport travelers crouched down on the ground, as dozens of ambulances rush in to tend to the casualties and the wounded.

Ataturk Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world.
