SEATTLE — Dashcam video of a police officer firing her weapon six times after a man approached her with two kitchen knives has been released.
On June 19, police were called to a residence around 1:45 p.m. after a man allegedly threw a large knife at his partner. When police arrived, the man began approaching them armed with two kitchen knives. On dashcam video from the police cruiser, the officers can be heard speaking with the man’s partner when he finally shows himself.
Police fired six shots, but did not shoot to kill. The officer who fired her weapon has been placed on leave as an investigation looking into weather that level of force was necessary is conducted. The knife-wielding man remains in critical condition. Reports indicate he may have been suicidal.
