Locals and tourists saw a strange sight off the Turkish coast this weekend. Authorities decided to sink an Airbus A300 plane off the coast of Kusadasi. The submerged plane will become an artificial reef and major diving attraction. Hundreds of people watched the sinking, which lasted around 2.5 hours. The 36-year-old giant plane is 177 feet long and has a wingspan of 144 feet. Authorities bought the decommissioned plane from a private aviation company for about $93,000.
