Leaving a severely toxic family relationships can feel like crawling out of a slime pit. While your therapist fosters and supports your liberation, your legs are grasped by members of the family and try to pull you back. Once you have managed to extricate yourself, do not fall back into the slime pit. Seek new friends, form new networks, and participate in social situations that are new. It may not be essential to renounce your family entirely.
