Runnin’ the Scale – Keith Nichols In 1930 famous jazz violinist Joe Venuti recorded together with Adrian Rollini on bass sax, Eddie Lang on guitar and Itzy Riskin “Raggin’ the scale.” Probably some 50 years later, among many musical ventures, famous Britisch jazz pianist/trombonist Keith Nichols also started a Blue Four combination where he concentraded on playing the music of these early white jazz musicians. I found this tape on a British program discussing the in and outs of the bass saxophone. Next to Keith I recognize Johnny Barnes playing that awesome bass sax.
