US Secretary of State John Kerry asserted that “Daesh is responsible for genocide against groups in areas under its control,” during a press conference in Washington, DC on Thursday. The secretary of state acknowledged that the lack of access to key areas in Iraq and Syria was making it difficult for the US to compile a complete record of atrocities, but said his conclusion is based on a plethora of data gathered by the State Department and other agencies.
