An Italian referee demonstrates amazing restraint after getting blindsided by a player he just kicked out of the game. Hopefully, that guy gets a hefty fine and a long suspension for attacking the referee. The most recent penalty for hitting a referee in American sports was Don Wideman who cross checked referee Don Henderson into the boards on January 27th, 2016. Wideman was suspended for 20 games and lost $564,516 in earnings.
