New Delhi/Bengaluru, Mar 11 (ANI): The farmers affected by the controversial World Culture Festival, organised on the floodplains of Delhi's main river, have demanded adequate compensation for their losses. Many of the farmers, who plough the banks of the river amid Delhi's urban sprawl, have accused Art of Living Foundation (AOL), headed by spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, of forcing them off their land. A farmer said his daughter's education would be adversely affected if they moved from the place and that the compensation offered did not even cover his sowing costs. The mega event has left Indian environmentalists aghast. Experts have warned that the event, and the 3.5 million visitors expected, will devastate the area's biodiversity.
