Youth in Punjab showcases Gatka, Sikh martial art

Patiala, Feb 27: At the All-India Inter-University Gatka (Men & Women) Championship, students showcased their skills in Gatka. The championship was held at Patiala's Punjabi University and saw the participation of Gatka enthusiasts from across the country. Performers displayed their awe-inspiring agility and dexterity in Gatka. At the event, organizers pitched for the recognition of Gatka at national and international level. Gatka is an ancient martial art whose origin dates back to thousands of years. It is considered to be a spiritual as well as a physical exercise. Enthusiastic participants thanked the varsity for holding the championship. Such games not only promote sportsmanship among the youth, but they also help the country promote its indigenous and traditional sports.
