Decoding the Paris climate change agreement

After two weeks of discussion and further delays, global leaders have adopted a historic agreement at COP21. The deal was agreed by nearly 200 nations and has been hailed as a truly global. Here is a jargon-free overview of the pact which aims to keep global temperatures from rising another degree Celsius between now and 2100. The deal now needs to be ratified by individual governments - at least 55 countries representing at least 55 percent of global emissions - and would take effect in 2020.
