Unfortunately, very little is known about this bandleader. Bill Carlsen was a competent reed player who, during 1926-1931, led the Devine's Wisconsin Roof Orchestra, the house band of the Wisconsin Roof Restaurant in Milwaukee, as well as a later orchestra at the Modernistic Ballroom until 1936. In 1939, he performed at the Casa Loma Ballroom in Saint Louis. They were well-known and popular in the Midwest, but particularly in Chicago. Personal included Dip Happe and Alec Alexander, t; Ole Turner, tb; Paul Peregrine and Harry Bortner, cl-as-ts; Lee Simons, p; Ralph West, bj; Chet Harding, bb; Harry Pierce. This excellent record was made in 1927. Vocal by Henry 'Bubbles' Reber (aka Reeber).
