Amazing footage of sniper killing ISIS militants is actually from a video game

TEHRAN — Dramatic footage posted online and promoted by Iranian state television ostensibly showing a crack Hezbollah sniper expertly and effortlessly taking out Islamic State militants one-by-one is actually from a videogame.

According to a France24 report, Iranian media has been hyping up the video with headlines like "Hezbollah sniper hunts down Daesh brutes" and "Six Daesh combatants are killed in 2 minutes by a Hezbollah sniper". "Daesh" is another term used to refer to ISIS.

One local press agency even went as far as to confidently claim the weapon being used by the fictional hero sniper was an Arash, an Iranian-produced 20-calibre anti-material rifle.

The footage, however, which includes a somewhat visible headshot user-interface element, is actually from a 2010 video game, EA's Medal of Honor.

Whether this happened to be a case of misguided, but intentional propaganda or just sheer stupidity, though, remains up for debate.
