People in London panic when bus blows up for scene in new Jackie Chan movie

LONDON — Warning signs had been placed around London's Lambeth bridge, and local residents received letters in advance explaining the planned explosion.

And yet, many people were caught by surprise on Sunday morning when a double decker bus was blown up as part of a scene for Jackie Chan's new movie, The Foreigner.

With the threat of terrorism attacks often splashed across the front pages of newspapers, and the 2005 attack in London probably still fresh in people's memories, the explosion was perceived by many as an act of terror.

Conservative lawmaker Nigel Huddleston tried to calm down Twitter users by explaining that "It was just for a movie."

But several people complained that the public was not properly alerted and that the ones responsible for the scene should feel ashamed.

The Foreigner, directed by Martin Campbell, is an action movie based on Stephen Leather's book "The Chinaman." Apart from Jackie Chan, it also stars former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan.
