Partially Paralysed Bali Man Builds Himself a DIY Bionic Arm

This is Wayan Sumardana, 31-year-old Indonesian welder known as 'Tawan', who managed to design and build a bionic arm for himself after a mild stroke left his left arm paralyzed last year. The ingenious invention, which uses an astonishing amount of improvised technology, brings together welded chunks of scrap metal Tawan found in his workshop on the island of Bali, with circuits, wiring, and sensors that wrap around Tawan's left arm, back, and head to make a surreal device that looks like it came straight out of a fantasy steam punk cartoon.
