Vaishali Shadangule worked with 400 Assamese female weavers to put together her exclusive collection 'Ru-Ba-Ru' for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013. Her collection is an ode to these talented weavers that she has worked with for months.
The designer also launched her first ever Men's wear collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013. Her collection's colour palate included mostly whites, off-whites and pastels. She complimented soft colours with hand embroidery which has subtle and understated elegance and created a mix of gowns, pants and colour summer feminine dresses.
With muga silk and khadi as protagonists, Vaishali's collection saw the magic of textile come alive. The designer's knack for master drapes was presented in the form the Assamese mekhla chaddar. Cut work, three dimensional embroidery and metallic surface texturing were interesting additions to her work.
