The sixth season of The Walking Dead, an American horror–drama television series on AMC, premiered on October 11, 2015. The season will consist of 16 episodes, split into two eight-episode parts; the second of which will premiere on February 14, 2016. Developed for television by Frank Darabont, the series is based on the eponymous series of comic books.
