Identikwijt (Identifree) - lesbian short film
"Identikwijt" or free translated “Identifree” is a short film / documentary written by Jürgen Depoorter, Thomas Vander Brugghen and Katrien Vandenberghe.
We wanted to set the theme of "transgenderism" in the spotlight, a theme which is still a big taboo in Belgium.
The starting point for making the movie was the “coming out” of a very good friend of ours, who told us in 2013 that discreetly he dressed himself, for already 20 years, every night as a woman and feels himself really woman and that he finally decided to do his coming out.
Jan has now become Jani and lives her life now for 80% as a woman. She is the main caracter of our story.
The documentary is furthermore scientifically substantiated through interviews with Joz Motmans, coordinator of the Transgender Informationpoint, UZGent and Katrien Vanleirberghe, assistant Cavaria, headorganization for transgenders, gay and lesbian people.
We have been working on the film about a year and hope to get the theme out of the taboo, clarify the topic and above all help transgenders who have not yet done their coming out or support students social work.
