GAPPY RANKS live @ Main Stage 2011

The English reggae scene has managed over the years to maintain a very high productive standard thanks to the constant contact with Jamaica, but also thanks to the will to distance itself from the “motherland” through an original sound. The young Gappy Ranks is one of the latest products of this school. He is a very versatile artist who goes from a robust deejay style with influences from the masters of the past to a more melodic approach.
He has become known in recent years with great versatility and prolificacy, recording a large cast of songs for several producers, amongst which we can find the 2009 hit “Heaven in your eyes”, by the label Peckings. This hit is included in “Put the stereo on”, his first CD released last year under the English Greensleaves. While this first album exposes Gappy’s attitude towards classic reggae, his imminent second CD “Give thank & praise” will instead demonstrate his most innovative side.
