Hansi Müller (Inter Milan) - fluent in Italian within 2 months - 1982/83

In the World Cup summer of 1982, Hansi Mueller, attacking midfielder of VfB Stuttgart and the German national team, joined Italian giants Internazionale.. Being a wonderfully talented footballer gifted with a superb first touch and a sweet left foot, Hans-Peter "Hansi" Mueller couldn`t defend if his life depended upon it. Mueller`s lack of tactical discipline and understanding proved his undoing when Mueller`s friend and roommate from the German national team, Karlheinz Rummenigge, arrived at Inter in the summer of 1984. Rummenigge may have been past his prime when Bayern Munich sold him off to Inter, but the ballon d`or winner of 1980 and 1981 was still among the top 5 in the world. Rummenigge`s farewell gift to Bayern had been the 30 goals he scored in the 1983/84 season.
