Chinese state visit raises hackles in the UK

Chinese President Xi Jinping starts a state visit to the United Kingdom tomorrow, where he will be received with much pomp and ceremony, including a banquet and an overnight stay at Buckingham Palace. But there are concerns about Britain turning a blind eye to human rights abuses and about China being allowed into strategic UK sectors such as nuclear energy.
In Switzerland, the far-right Swiss People's Party took its greatest sweep in federal elections to date, winning 69 seats. The party benefited from the current climate of hostility to migrants, even if it toned down the anti-immigrant rhetoric in its campaign.
