Is Bolivia's president turning his back on indigenous people?

The Bolivian government's choice to put natural gas and oil extraction above the protection of indigenous land has caused anger. Prospecting for energy sources has officially become a priority for South America's poorest nation, as hydrocarbon exports represent its first source of income. The move has come as something of a shock for many Bolivians, since President Evo Morales has built himself a reputation for being a champion of both indigenous people and environmental issues.
