Inter vs. Juve 1990/91: Goal Lothar Matthäus

The 4 years he spent in Italy at Internazionale were the brightest in Matthäus` long distinguished career: Not only did Inter win one Scudetto (1988-89), one Italian Supercup (1989) and the UEFA Cup (1990-91) under his leadership, Matthäus was also awarded the ballon d`or (World footballer of the year) in 1991, one year after he, as captain of the West German national team, brought home the World Cup from Italy. Had he not suffered a severe knee injury in the spring of 1992, his career at Inter would have probably lasted until his retirement.
