The sleep-in, organised by the NGO Jaringan Rakyat Tertindas or Jerit is in protest at the living conditions of the 450 families who were quickly moved out of their former estate homes to make way for Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

The residents started organising themselves under tentage at 5 pm and many will spend much of the next 24 hours there.

Also lending support were Bukit Jalil residents' committee members and members of the Parti Sosialis Malaysia and the Human Rights Party.
