Saudi embassy official, who accused of rape claims immunity
  • 9 years ago
A Saudi diplomat, who has been booked allegedly for sexually assaulting two Nepali housemaids, has claimed diplomatic immunity. The Gurgaon Police, who is investigating the case is in touch with Ministry of External Affairs for further course of action. Meanwhile, the police have not named the Saudi in the FIR as he possibly enjoys diplomatic immunity, which means cops can't arrest him. Only after the police file their chargesheet can the government ask the Saudis to waive his immunity. But Indians will have no legal recourse if the Saudis choose a diplomatic solution and put him on a flight to Riyadh. The women, aged around 30, have alleged that the diplomat confined them in his upscale flat in Gurgaon, torturing and starving them, and raping them repeatedly. However, Saudi embassy officials have denied the allegations.
