" Kumar Sangakkara, the most influential cricketer of Sri Lanka, is regarded as one of the greatest personalities in the world of cricket. Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara is the first player to score four successive one-day International centuries, setting a new record in a World Cup match against Scotland during the ICC World Cup 2015 and surpassing the previous record held by Sanath Jayasuriya. In the same match, he also broke the record for an ODI wicket keeping dismissals and breaking the previous record held by Adam Gilchrist. Former Sri Lanka captain, Mahela Jayawardene, also paid a fitting tribute to the retiring Kumar Sangakkara, describing him as the “Greatest Batsman” to have emerged from the island nation since their entry into International cricket.
