The 500-strong crowd never made it out of Jalan Melayu to converge with larger thousands of others that has formed near Pudu Raya and Central Market.
Police formed a barricade right at the footsteps of Masjid Jamek LRT station, gassed the protesters and gave chase.
The crowd had no other choice but run.
