TalentCorp Debate: Work admirable, but futile ?

The work done by TalenCorp Malaysia Bhd, the government body established to reverse brain drain in the country, is "admirable" but ultimately "futile", DAP's Kluang MP Liew Chin Tong said today.

Speaking in KiniTV's talk show KiniTalk today, Liew said that this is because TalentCorp's efforts to bring back Malaysian talent from abroad, is ultimately doused by the fact that it is "fighting against the system" that is has done little to effectively stop skilled labour from leaving the country for greener pastures elsewhere.

However, TalentCorp CEO Johan Mahmood Merican, who appeared on KiniTalk along with Liew, acknowledged the issues raised by Liew, but said that the situation would become worse if TalentCorp is not trying to continuously trying to make sure Malaysia has a ready stock of talent to feed its economic transformation agenda espoused by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
