Frolicking in the Bakau

Not too far away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur and its suburbs, is a seaside area known as Pantai Morib. And on that Pantai Morib road is a quaint resort that fronts a mangrove swamp forest.

Just over an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur, BakauGruv Resort is noted amongst its patrons as a place to 'getaway from it all' to spend a quiet, restful weekend surrounded by the calmness of nature.

It is also a favourite location for corporate training groups as a place to get totally immersed in the order of the day and to later enjoy the ambiance in preparation for the next day's agenda.

For the international school students which make BakauGruv Resort an annual visit, they are weaned off laptops and tablets -- no 'Face-Booking' on a Bakau Gruv outing!

Accommodation consists of A-frame huts called 'dangaus' and dorms. The dangaus are located in amongst the mangrove trees. While the dangaus can accommodate 2 people, the dorms can fit 6 adults. The dorms are air-conditioned. All very clean.

Also available are mini chalets.

Each unit of the long-houses have attached bathroom and toilet and so you don't have to go out to do your business. Not so though for the A-frames. Because of their size, bathing and toilets are external facilities.

And on certain days in December the water comes right to the the dangaus and dorms for a splashing good time.
