With the exception of coach Todd Bowles, it doesn't seem like the New York Jets are running to the defense of Geno Smith.
Smith, who had his jaw broken after a locker room fight with IK Enemkpali, could miss up to 10 weeks of the NFL season.
According to the New York Times "After the fight, Bowles said Smith was "cold-cocked, sucker-punched, whatever you want to call it."
But Smith's teammates have not rushed to say the punch on their quarterback was the fault of Enemkpali.
In fact, anonymous sources, who witnessed the account, said that Smith "was up in (Enemkpali's) face and pointed/touched his face." Another source said "Geno deserved it." "That'll get a man hit every time, especially one that hasn't earned respect."
