Confirmed: The Universe Is Slowly Dying
Data culled from 200,000 galaxies strongly suggests the universe is slowly but steadily dying. But don't worry. The process will take at least 100 billion years.

The results are in: the universe is dying an extremely slow death.

It won't happen for at least 100 billion years, but new research, presented to the General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union in Honolulu, provides the most accurate measure yet of the decline of the cosmos.

A team of international researchers, led by Simon Driver, studied 200,000 galaxies with some of the world's most powerful land and space telescopes in order to confirm each galaxy's energy output.
