The Malaysian military attache in New Zealand accused of committing a sexual crime in Wellington should not face "media or public opinion trial" once he returns to New Zealand to face the charges laid out against him, Defence Minister Hishamuddin Hussein said today.

He also denies that the government had tried to cover up the case, brushing it off as allegations made by Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim.
