WWE wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper died. He was 61 years old.
The Canadian star's agent confirmed his death in a statement to E! News on Friday. He said Rod died peacefully in his sleep last night, and that the wrestler was quote "one of the most generous, sincere and authentic people I have ever known."
Piper, known as Rod or Roddy to his friends, was born Roderick George Toombs in Canada and lived in Oregon and Los Angeles in recent years with his family. He is survived by wife Kitty Tombs, and four children.
Piper rose to fame in the '80s and '90s as a wrestler, including a "villain" character, in the World Wrestling Federation which became World Wrestling Entertainment or WWE. His nicknames were "Rowdy" and "Hot Rod" and he wore a Scottish kilt.
