Graeme Murphy is a prolific choreographer who moves between the classical and the modern, bringing forth exquisite and innovative dance sequences. After joining a prestigious ballet company as a dancer, he discovered his true passion for choreography and for 31 years since 1976, he choreographed some 50 ballets as the artistic director of the Sydney Dance Company.One of his most notable works was his reinterpretation of the classical ballet "Swan Lake" which premiered in 2001. Loosely based on the love triangle involving Princess Diana, it garnered much attention from the dance critics throughout the world for its dramatic twist and emotional intensity.This year, Murphy breathed a new life into "Giselle," which tells a story of unrequited yet eternal love. It is one of the most celebrated classical ballets that has stood the test of time since its premiere in Paris in 1841. It was given a new life by Australian choreographer Graeme Murphy this year, and was met with high anticipation as every aspect, except for the main plot, was modified.
