Tensions ran high as the New Black Panther Party and members of the white supremacist group Ku Klux Klan, or KKK, attended separate rallies against and in support of the Confederate flag outside the South Carolina Statehouse. At least one protester was arrested after confronting some activists with a knife while scuffles between the groups were also reported.
