Bio ""The concept for the group arose when singer-siren Dallin Knightly and guitarist Dan Tirer ended their seven-year relationship and decided to transmute the experience into an unconventional creative collaboration. After enlisting Ben Marshall (later replaced by Jon Epcar) on drums and Arthur Fleischmann on bass, their aesthetic solidified and the band emerged as SKYES.

In the arena of Brooklyn’s glittery synth-pop movement, SKYES provides a haunting new paradigm and delivers a live show that The 405 hailed a “mysterious, holy-like experience.” Their soundscapes are rife with sonic contradictions, where glassy synth hooks conspire with turbulent guitars, anthemic beats with subtle organs, and chasmal spaces with powerhouse vocals. The effect both rouses and unsettles, conveying all the frenzy and bliss of an encounter with an untempered sublime.

In February 2014, SKYES released their breakout single, A Girl Named Jake, which rose to #14 on Hype Machine and hit over 10,000 plays in its first week. In April, they followed up with Burden, a bellowing single that might best characterize the fervent polarities encapsulated in their sound. All Things Go praised Burden as “a brooding piece of Baroque-pop that shines thanks to earth-shaking instrumentals and DA Knightly’s siren sound.”

Recently, SKYES has been working to refine their material through performances with the likes of Fenech Soler, Leisure Cruise, Junior Prom, and Break Science, and looks forward to the release of their upcoming debut EP in June.""
