PRESENTED BY JOAQUINA MALDONADO

Jamaican-style ska, ska-jazz and rocksteady band from Peru, appears into the musical circuit due to an initiative of third-wave ska musicians from the underground scene and music students mostly interested in mainstream jazz. With this unusual gathering, this ensemble emerges as the very first jamaican-style ska band ever in Peru.

Having jamaican-style ska as its main genre, Vieja Skina appears in many music festivals and concerts around Peru and Latin America, in an unexpectedly way and astonishing the local audience.

In 2012 they released their first album entitled "Ayahuasca", in homage to the sacred plant of the indigenous communities in the jungle of Peru. This album is chosen as one of the best launch of the year for the press in his country and abroad. The disc has the support of major figures in world ska as Mad Professor, Victor Rice and Mario Siperman.

Likewise, Skina Vieja was chosen to open the shows of legends like The Skatalites, Steel Pulse, Groundation, Pato Banton, Doreen Shaffer, among other bands. Currently the band is recording their second album which will be released in the second half of this year.
