Airbus doubles up on Chinese factory operations

Airbus is to build a second plane factory in China in a deal with the Tianjin Free Trade Zone Investment Company Ltd. and the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

An A330 assembly line will join a A320 operation already up and running in the city.

The deal was witnessed in Airbus’ Toulouse headquarters by the French and Chinese prime ministers during Prime MInister Li Keqiang’s visit to France and the city, where he also presided over a Europe-China Economic forum.

Fabrice Bregier, Airbus President said the deal would “open a new chapter of strategic cooperation on wide-body aircraft with China.”
