Mexico: Standardized Evaluations Not About Quality Education, Say Diss
  • 9 years ago
Dissident teachers have announced a strike to begin on June 24, after months of protests against so-called government “education reforms.” In particular, they reject the imposition of standardized evaluations, which have nothing to do with quality education, they say, but instead are aimed at the further privatization of education and the erosion of workers’ rights achieved during decades of protest. Striking teachers in Oaxaca were successful in opposing the first round of evaluations. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City for teleSUR
