00:19Robby
00:42Oh, hello there. Great to see you again. I'm just putting the finishing touches to my aeroplane model.
00:49There we go. There, all finished. It's taken me ages to glue this together.
00:56And because I was using lots of gloopy glue, I made sure I put plenty of old paper down just
01:03in case I got it a mess.
01:06Oh, no. How did that get there?
01:10And how did that get there?
01:15How did that get on there?
01:17Eh? What's that?
01:19Oh, how did that get there?
01:22Oh, well, I suppose by using old paper, it doesn't really matter if it gets ripped up and torn into
01:28pieces.
01:29Plus, it gives me a great idea.
01:32Let's try something.
01:35Try using torn up bits of paper to make this super city picture.
01:39Let's make it. We'll need some things from the doodle drawers. Come on.
01:46Some coloured paper and a ruler.
01:53A glue stick.
01:58A black pen and a pencil.
02:03Some newspaper.
02:06Now, to make a torn paper city picture, like this one here, find yourself a large piece of coloured paper.
02:15And starting at the bottom of the paper, draw a large rectangle with a pencil.
02:21Next, draw a tall, pointy triangle shape, about as tall as the rectangle.
02:26And how about two more rectangles?
02:29You don't have to be neat.
02:31And in fact, you can draw whatever shapes you like.
02:34You could even add a curved roof like this.
02:36Now for the tricky bit.
02:38We need to rip along all of these lines.
02:41But you can use a ruler to help you like this.
02:45Place the ruler down alongside one of your pencil lines.
02:50Hold the ruler down firmly.
02:52And then tear the paper against it.
03:01Put these pieces to one side for the moment, because we'll need those later.
03:05And then get yourself another piece of coloured paper.
03:09This darker shape will look rather good.
03:11Then let's grab a pencil and start drawing some more shapes.
03:15Now you can use a white pencil here if you like, because it really shows up the pencil lines.
03:21Just let your pencil go wherever it wants.
03:26And when you're happy with your buildings, tear them out as well.
03:33Put these pieces to one side as well.
03:36And grab your last piece of paper.
03:38Now again, this works really well if it's an even darker shade.
03:42Now let's start drawing some more building shapes.
03:45But this time, they're going to be joined up at the bottom of the page.
03:49And it's a great idea if the drawings are quite small.
03:57And when you're happy with your buildings, tear these out as well.
04:03Now get another piece of paper.
04:06And very carefully place your biggest buildings at the back.
04:13Put your middle-sized buildings in the middle.
04:18And the smallest buildings on top.
04:21There, very nice.
04:23Now we can get gluing.
04:29It's looking great already.
04:32But let's add something extra with some torn up pieces of newspaper.
04:37Just tear out little rectangles or squares for windows and doors.
04:48Tear as many pieces as you want and arrange them onto your building.
05:00Now all that's left to do is add some extra detail with a black pen.
05:05Just carry on until you're happy with your picture.
05:08This one's going to have lots of windows.
05:15It's a fabulous torn paper city.
05:18And there are some other ideas you could try too.
05:21A countryside scene.
05:23It's got rolling hills and torn paper flowers.
05:26Or even a beach.
05:28With torn paper sailing boats and gentle torn waves.
05:33So you see, something great came out of me ripping up all that paper.
05:37I knew it would.
05:38Now where did I put that model plane, eh?
05:49Who's that snoring?
05:51Oh, it's the shapes.
05:53They're asleep again.
05:55Let's wake them up.
06:03Hey!
06:08Ah, yeah!
06:17I am a shape.
06:22I am a shape.
06:27I am a circle.
06:31I am a triangle.
06:36I am a square.
06:41I am a rectangle.
06:44I am a shape.
06:49I am a rectangle.
06:53What's hiding in the rectangles?
07:03Can you guess?
07:09It's a merry-go-round.
07:13Well done, rectangle.
07:15It's time to get back on the shelf.
07:27Oh, I'm glad we woke the shapes up.
07:30They're so funny.
07:31I loved it.
07:32I'm a circle.
07:33Minutemake time.
07:35Hey, hey, hey.
07:36It's Minutemake time.
07:40Now, have you ever been stuck for something to wear at a fancy dress party?
07:46Well, here's a great problem solver.
07:48Oh, it's a fancy dress headdress that's fun to make.
07:53Now, to make one of these, you will need lots and lots of coloured feathers,
07:59a plastic jewel, ooh, look at it, some stickers, a glue stick, some sticky tape,
08:06and a strip of card.
08:09Now, this strip of card needs to be able to fit all the way around your head.
08:14Now, that's quite tricky to do, so you might want to ask an adult to help you.
08:17Now, do you think it's possible to make this in just one minute?
08:22You must be joking!
08:24Well, thanks a lot, Hocky, but I think I can do it.
08:27I'm going to have to be very quick, but don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the
08:32end.
08:32Are you ready? Let's make it in a minute!
08:35Start the clock!
08:37Right, let's get the strip and start laying out our feathers.
08:40Now, you can use whatever colour feathers you like in whatever order.
08:44There we go, put those ones down there.
08:46Now, I'm going to get the green ones, they look nice.
08:50That way, there we go, just line them up.
08:52And now, I think two yellow ones would look nice, either side there.
08:56And then, how about these ones? Yes, they can go on the end there.
08:59Now, I need to get a long piece of sticky tape that puts them all in place.
09:04There we go, it's very long.
09:05Go as quick as I can!
09:06Right, here we go.
09:08I'm going to stick all the feathers down like that.
09:12There we go.
09:13There we go.
09:14Now, if I turn that over, I can stick on my jaw into the middle.
09:19There we are, a bit of glue there.
09:21There we go.
09:22And now, let's put some stickers on.
09:24There's a sticker there, and the sticker there, I'm running out of time!
09:29There we go!
09:30And now, if I just get a bit of sticky tape, I can fix it in place!
09:36I've done it!
09:37Look at that!
09:38It's a fancy dress headdress!
09:40Only just!
09:42And if you've got more than a minute, there are some other ideas you could try.
09:46Ooh, very nice!
09:47This one's got pipe cleaners and paper details.
09:51Ooh, and this one's got twigs and leaves!
09:54Fancy dress headdresses, made in a minute!
09:57Why don't you give it a go?
09:58Here's a reminder of how to do it!
10:01Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.
10:04Get an adult to help measure a strip of card that fits around your head.
10:09Arrange feathers along it and tape them into place.
10:13Turn it over and stick on some jewels and stickers.
10:17Finally, tape the ends together and your fancy dress headdress is complete!
10:21Why don't you try and make it in a minute!
10:25Hello, it's the nature!
10:28Guess what way they did today!
10:32Ooh, I don't know!
10:33Let's find out!
10:41I am purple!
10:48I am blue!
11:07I am yellow!
11:14I am orange
11:19I am red
11:23It's the dragon!
11:27Well done everyone, see you next time
11:30Now it's time to
11:31Frame it
11:33Frame it
11:36Frame it
11:39Now take a look at this
11:43This is a great pattern picture
11:45And it's made using wax crayons
11:47And ink
11:48It's very easy to do
11:50But makes a picture that looks so good
11:52You'll be able to frame it
11:54You will need white paper
11:56Paint brushes, crayons
11:58Different coloured inks
12:00And water
12:01To make a pattern picture
12:03Draw lots of shapes and dots
12:05Onto the paper with a white crayon
12:08This is quite tricky
12:09Because you can't see what you're doing
12:11But all will be revealed
12:13Now do the same with other colours
12:18It's time for some magic
12:20Mix the coloured ink with water
12:22And paint rectangles and squares
12:25All over the top of the wax shapes
12:31You can do as many shapes as you like
12:39And when it's dry
12:41Look how the wax crayons magically resist the paint
12:44You can see the wax drawings underneath the painted shapes
12:49It's a brilliant pattern picture
12:53What a great way of making a really clever picture
12:56Now all that's left to do is
12:59Frame it
13:03I like making pictures out of all sorts of things
13:06So let's make a picture out of lolly sticks
13:33Wow
13:34It's a grasshopper
13:38I'm just looking through my seaside box
13:41It's full of all the things I take with me
13:44When I go on holiday
13:45Let's have a look
13:47Yes
13:48Here's my bucket and spade
13:51Very nice
13:52What else have we got?
13:53Oh brilliant
13:54Look
13:54My mask
13:56And snorkel
13:57And of course
13:59Not forgetting
14:01My beach ball
14:03Brilliant
14:04Oh look
14:05There's also
14:07Lots of shells in here too
14:10Now I found this one
14:12When I went diving
14:13Under the sea
14:39I said I love swimming under the sea
14:42Yeah
14:42And it's given me a great idea
14:46Let's make something
14:48A super shimmering shell grotto
14:51That looks like it's on the bottom of the sea
14:54Let's make it
14:55We'll need some things from the doodle drawers
15:01Some shells
15:06Some paint
15:10A paper plate
15:16Some gloopy PVA glue
15:21And some glitter
15:22And a black pen
15:24Plus we'll also need
15:26Some air drying clay
15:28That you can get
15:29From an art and craft shop
15:30I'll be back in a tick
15:34Right
15:34I'll put our air drying clay there for now
15:37Now to make your very own shell grotto
15:40Like this one here
15:42You need to push some air drying clay
15:46Onto a paper plate
15:48Like this
15:53Now we're ready to bring in our shells
15:56Now there are all sorts of different types
15:59But it's a good idea
16:00To use a good mixture
16:01Of shapes and sizes
16:03Now let's start placing them
16:05Into the clay
16:06Let's start
16:08With the biggest shell
16:09And we can push it
16:11Into the clay
16:12At the back
16:13Like this
16:14You can arrange the other shells
16:16However you like
16:17And then leave the clay to dry
16:21When the clay's dry
16:23Like this
16:24You can paint your shell grotto
16:27A nice underwater colour
16:29Like a purple
16:30A green
16:30Or maybe even
16:32A blue
16:33Now to do that
16:34We need to make
16:35A painty mixture
16:37That's half paint
16:38And half gloopy glue
16:39There we go
16:40Let's give it a mix
16:45There
16:46Now we can paint
16:47This painty mixture
16:48Over a shell grotto
16:54And how about
16:55Adding a few highlights
16:56With a shiny colour
16:58Now silver paint
16:59Will work really well
17:01For this
17:01So let's bring in
17:03Some silver
17:04Painty mixture
17:05And paint some on
17:10There
17:11And now
17:12Whilst the paint's still wet
17:14Let's sprinkle
17:15Some colourful glitter
17:17All over
17:19A shell grotto
17:21Now the glitter
17:21Will stick
17:22Because the paint
17:23Is still wet
17:25And it will make
17:25The grotto
17:26Really sparkle
17:27Now it's a good idea
17:29To do this
17:29On some old paper
17:31Some newspaper
17:32Or
17:32A tray
17:34As this
17:34Can get a bit messy
17:39Then shake off
17:41All the extra glitter
17:42For this amazing effect
17:46There
17:48Now for the windows
17:50We can use a black pen
17:52To draw squares
17:54On our shelves
17:55And then we can paint them yellow
17:57In the middle
17:58You can do as many windows
17:59As you want
18:03Just draw little black squares
18:09And then paint them yellow
18:12What a brilliant effect
18:14A fantastic shimmering shell grotto
18:17And you can try any design you like
18:21This one's covered in green paint
18:24And green glitter
18:25Or how about using a bigger shell
18:28And adding some more shell buildings
18:30Like this
18:30Let's go
18:41It's time to go
18:45Time to go
18:46Time to go
18:47Oh
18:49That's it for now
18:50My making time's over
18:51But yours
18:52Is just beginning
18:53See you soon
18:54It's time to put all this stuff
