They may be considered pests but "kiwet" or rice eels are also used for food.

In Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya, residents cook rice eel in a variety of ways -- adobong kiwet, paksiw na kiwet, spicy ginataang kiwet and kiwet curry.

In La Trinidad, Benguet, even the pupa of rice eel are fried and then cooked adobo-style.
