Claire Bartel (Annabella Sciorra) e Michael (Matt McCoy), seu marido, estão cansados de procurar uma babá. Até que Peyton Flanders (Rebecca De Mornay) se candidata ao emprego. Elegant, polite and dedicated, she's just perfect. She takes of the baby as his own and soon wins the heart of the older couple's daughter. Over time, however, Peyton begins to behave strangely and seems to want to take over from Claire, suspicious, decides to investigate the past of Peyton, not knowing who actually is in the hands of a dangerous woman and obsessed with revenge of death of her husband, a gynecologist who committed suicide when he was accused of molesting five of his clients. This fact made Peyton Flanders, that is not his real name, lost the baby she was expecting.
