Two Turkish citizens including a 15-year-old boy were killed by stray bullets from Syria in the Turkish border town of Ceylanpinar. According to Reuters, the bullets came from the adjacent Syrian town of Ras-al Ain, where Kurdish fighters have been battling Islamist anti-government rebels since July 16. The clashes began after Nusra fighters attacked a Kurdish patrol and took a gunman hostage.

It was reported that the incident was the most serious spillover of violence into Turkey in weeks and highlights the growing concern that Syria's civil war is dragging in neighbouring states.
