A Japanese man in his 60s was arrested for robbing a 23-year-old mother and her baby at knifepoint in Atsugi Kanagawa on the evening of New Year's Day, according to a report from Yomiuri Shimbun on Thursday.
While resisting the robber, the mother tripped and fell to the ground with her baby. The baby's head was injured on impact. Fortunately, a bus driver witnessed the scene. After police received a call from the bus driver, they found the robber 700 meters away from the scene of the crime. He was caught red-handed on suspicion of violating Japan's Firearm and Sword Possession Control Law. During questioning, he admitted to mobile phone theft.
