Panda cub makes debut at Taipei zoo in Taiwan

Taipei Zoo introduced panda cub Yuan Zai to the public for the first time on Monday January 6th, attracting thousands of excited visitors.

The six-month-old giant panda cub walked slowly around its enclosure, climbing up and down obstacles, showing off her climbing skills before returning to her mother and taking a nap. The baby panda currently sleeps around 20 hours per day.

The pandas have become the star attraction at Taipei Zoo over the last few years and pandamonium has occurred since Yuan Zai was born.

Her parents Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan, whose names when put together mean "reunion" in Chinese, were given to Taiwan as a gift by China in 2008.
