Park Seo Young lays out a feast in front of her computer, sets up her webcam and begins eating ... while thousands of people across the country watch her. This is the latest fad in South Korea - gastronomic voyeurism or, more simply, food p-rn.

Park, known online as The Diva broadcasts her show - little more than her enjoying a spread of food in her small apartment - for up to three hours each day.
Why does she do this you ask? Well, fans can chat with her in real time or send virtual balloons which can be redeemed for cash. This profession earns the former management consultant earn more than $9,000 every month.

Before you begin to marvel another East Asian innovation in perversion, many of Park's viewers are in fact women. Some say if makes eating alone feel less awkward. "It feels as if I'm eating that much food with her. I think that's what the show is about. And probably, it's comforting for people who eat alone," one woman told Reuters.

It's estimated there are around 3,500 people broadcasting these web shows of just eating. Some are even sponsored by restaurants. As Park explains: "People enjoy the vicarious pleasure with my online show when they can't eat that much or don't want to eat food at night, or are on a diet."
