Four pimps arrested in Japan posed as prostitutes on dating websites

Four Japanese men have been arrested for operating as pimps in the greater Tokyo area. The men allegedly posed as women on online dating websites to attract potential clients, and then hooked up prostitutes with potential clients. The suspects allegedly focused on johns living outside the Tokyo, where competition in the prostitution industry is less intense than in Tokyo itself.

The suspects impersonated women on online dating websites by leaving messages such as: "Cute girls looking for sugar daddies, hotel fees excluded." They then picked up young women in Tokyo's Shinjuku District and sent them to johns in Kanagawa and Ibaraki prefectures. They also helped book hotel rooms for the women and their clients.

All four suspects admitted admitted to contacting johns on the websites. They are also charged with earning the equivalent of US$530,000 over an 18-month period from the transactions they orchestrated.
