China hires 4,000 'Porn Cops' to patrol the internet and crackdown on illicit content

In its quest to keep its citizens' moral compasses in check, China has been censoring pretty much every form of media. This includes the internet, which within the country is heavily policed by a special branch of the National Police Force.
Now there's a rush to hire more Sexual Content Appraisers. Their task is to crack down on internet porn, which is illegal in the country. But just what constitutes porn in China will surprise you.
Of course, hardcore content along with obviously lewd portrayals including child porn and beastiality are banned. However, even seemingly pedestrian things like women in tank tops, bikinis and short shorts are banned, along with men who are shown topless or in suggestive poses. And it doesn't matter if they're real or animated computer graphic characters. That means a lot of video games and animations are also against the law in China.
It keeps the main internet companies in China baffled because they must pay hefty fines if they don't control their networks. These companies try to keep the internet as open as possible because it means more business opportunities and money for them.
