Mireille Miller-Young, un professeur et assistante d'études féministe et de la pornographie à l'UC de Santa Barbara, fait face à des accusations d'avoir arraché un signe de protestation d'une jeune fille de 16ans lors d'une manifestation anti-avortement.
L'incident a eu lieu le 4 Mars et a été filmé sur vidéo.
Selon les rapports, Thrin Short et sa sœur Joan Short, 21 ans, manifestaient pour se qu'elles appellent la libre expression sur le campus de l'Université de Santa Barbara.
Une confrontation s'en suivit, alors que Miller-Young a saisi un signe de protestation de Thrin Short pour ensuite le détruire.
Selon une déclaration faite à la police, Miller-Young a admis avoir pris le signe, en disant qu'elle se sentait «concernée» et offensé par des images sur les affiches.
Elle a dit à la police qu'elle l'avait juste saisit des mains de cette fille ... et parce qu'elle plus fort, ça lui a permis de prendre l'affiche."
