North Korea has launched a total of seven missiles in less than a week, ignoring the United Nations' ban on the communist state's missile testing.
According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea fired two short-range missiles using KN-09, a 300 millimetre multiple-rocket launcher at 6:50 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. respectively. The newly developed rocket launcher has the capabilities of sending missiles beyond Seoul.
The rockets, which have a 180 kilometre range, were fired from Wonsan, a city off the east coast. They fell into waters without causing any damages.
North Korea fired two Scud missiles from the same location in early hours on Sunday. The authoritarian state also launched three short-range projectiles off the east coast last Thursday.
Today's missile launch came one day ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's two-day visit to Seoul.
