Delivery Apps: innovation or tyranny against business owners?
In Korea, it's possible to order a diverse array of delivery foods with just one phone call. Food delivery is one of unique food cultures of Korea, and delivery apps played a critical role in creating that culture. The use of delivery apps greatly increased due to smartphones' location-based services that provide users with the restaurants' locations, menus, reviews, and more. Recently, 3 big delivery app companies monopolized the market and their unreasonable commission fees have become a problem. They charge as little as 2.5% to as much as 12% for commission every time customers order through their delivery apps. Restaurants are often small, and these commission fees are a big burden. Is there a solution? We take a look at the business owners' view on delivery apps, and which areas need improvements.
